Convert Central Time to Any Time Zone
Chicago reads 9:00 a.m., New York reads 10:00 a.m., London reads 3:00 p.m. That is Central Time in winter: one hour behind the East Coast, two hours ahead of the West Coast, six hours behind the UK. The same clock in July puts London six hours ahead, Los Angeles two hours behind, and Mumbai ten and a half hours ahead. The numbers shift because Central Time itself shifts, from CST (UTC−6) to CDT (UTC−5) and back again.
Central Time Converter Tool
The converter takes any Central Time moment and translates it into major world zones. It applies CST (UTC−6) in winter and CDT (UTC−5) in summer automatically, and it applies daylight saving rules for each target zone. Pick a time, pick a city, and the tool returns the offset in hours.
It covers New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, Sydney, Dubai, Mumbai, and more. Half-hour and 45-minute offsets are built in, so Mumbai (UTC+5:30) and Kathmandu (UTC+5:45) come out right.
How to Use the Converter for Meetings and Travel
For meetings across US time zones, the overlap window is 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. CT. That is 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Los Angeles and 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in New York. For all four mainland zones, the golden hour is 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. CT.
For international calls, these offsets from Central Time apply:
| Destination | CST (winter) | CDT (summer) |
|---|---|---|
| New York | +1 hour | +1 hour |
| Los Angeles | −2 hours | −2 hours |
| London | +6 hours | +6 hours |
| Paris/Berlin | +7 hours | +7 hours |
| Dubai | +10 hours | +9 hours |
| Mumbai | +11.5 hours | +10.5 hours |
| Tokyo | +15 hours | +14 hours |
| Sydney | +17 hours | +15 hours |
London and Paris also observe DST, but on different dates from the US, so the gap can briefly be 5 or 7 hours. Sydney’s DST runs opposite the US, so the gap shrinks in the northern hemisphere summer.
What the Central Time Converter Results Mean
The converter shows the time difference in hours, the number added to or subtracted from Central Time. Noon CT in winter is 6:00 p.m. in London (+6) and 3:00 a.m. the next day in Tokyo (+15). In summer, Central moves to CDT and those same clock-face moments shift.
A few things to watch:
- Half-hour zones: Mumbai is UTC+5:30, so it is 10.5 hours ahead of CST, not 10 or 11.
- No DST zones: Dubai and Mumbai do not change clocks, so their offset from Central shifts when the US does.
- Saskatchewan: Regina is on CST year-round, so it matches Chicago in winter but is one hour behind in summer.
- Mexico City: On permanent CST (UTC−6) since Mexico abolished DST nationally in October 2022. Mexico City and Chicago share the same clock November through March but diverge by one hour March through November, when Chicago moves to CDT.
When the Central Time Converter Offset Changes
Central Time changes twice a year. Clocks go forward 60 minutes on Sunday, 8 March 2026 at 2:00 a.m. local time: CST becomes CDT. Clocks go back 60 minutes on Sunday, 1 November 2026 at 2:00 a.m. local time: CDT becomes CST. In 2027, the dates are 14 March and 7 November.
Not every zone moves at the same time. Europe changes on different dates. The southern hemisphere runs on the opposite schedule. A London call might be 5, 6, or 7 hours ahead depending on the week. The converter handles this: check the offset it shows, and the wrong hour never gets booked.
The next change for Central Time is 8 March 2026, when clocks spring forward and Chicago moves to CDT (UTC−5). Until then, the current offset applies.
